Put down those hand trowels and hoes (not that kind of hoe, silly!), and pick up your pitchforks…it is time again to do battle! The UNL Gaming Club in partnership with The70MGame, KSU WildCraft, Kansas StarCraft, TPeSports, and The Nebraska Fighting Game Community are teaming up to host a gaming event you will surely not want to miss! There will be a full BYOC LAN party and tournaments for StarCraft, League of Legends, Halo, Street Fighter, and Marvel vs Capcom. The festivities take place on October 26th in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Admission and Registration

General Admission: FREE!
All persons are encouraged to come and participate as a spectator or in the general LAN party for free.
Wireless connection is free. Wired-internet connection via our LAN network will have a $5 equipment fee (waived for competitors).

Competitor Registration: $5
The $5 competitor registration fee goes towards covering the costs of prizes, games, and equipment associated with running the event. This fee will also cover the LAN connection fee for competitors; they will NOT have to pay both.

Individual Tournament Entry:

Individual tournament entry fees for each tournament will go into the prize pool of the respective tournament.

Registration for the SC2 and LoL events can be made online until Oct. 25, 2013.
A $5 per player early registration discount will be active through Sept. 30, 2013.

UPDATE: We are reopening online registration for StarCraft 2 and League of Legends until Friday, Oct 25th.

After online registration closes, any spots remaining will be available on first-come first-serve basis via ON-SITE registration.

There is no guarantee that spots will be remaining for on-site registration, so we encourage you to sign up online. Thanks!

Prizes

Each game will also have a separate prize pool raised from player registrations and community donations. Generally speaking, payouts for each place will follow a 50%/30%/20% split; as the number of registrants goes up, so will the prizes.

The examples below are based on 16 registered players/teams…

StarCraft II

  • First Place: $200 (i.e. $12.50 per registrant).
  • Second Place: $120 (i.e. $7.50 per registrant).
  • Third Place:  $80 (i.e. $5.00 per registrant).

League of Legends

  • First Place: $600 (i.e. $37.50 per registered team).
  • Second Place: $360 (i.e. $22.50 per registered team).
  • Third Place: $240 (i.e. $15.00 per registered team).

Halo 4

  • First Place: $240 (i.e. $15.00 per registered team).
  • Second Place: $144 (i.e. $9.00 per registered team).
  • Third Place: $96 (i.e. $6.00 per registered team).

Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3

  • First Place: $120 (i.e. $7.50 per registrant).
  • Second Place: $72 (i.e. $4.50 per registrant).
  • Third Place: $48 (i.e. $3.00 per registrant).

Super Street Fighter 4: AE 2012

  • First Place: $120 (i.e. $7.50 per registrant).
  • Second Place: $72 (i.e. $4.50 per registrant).
  • Third Place: $48 (i.e. $3.00 per registrant).

Super Smash Bros. Melee

  • First Place: $120 (i.e. $7.50 per registrant).
  • Second Place: $72 (i.e. $4.50 per registrant).
  • Third Place: $48 (i.e. $3.00 per registrant).

Tournament Rules

StarCraft II

  • Swiss-style group play for 4-5 rounds, Bo3 series.
  • Top 8 players from group play continue into single elimination brackets, Bo3 series.
  • Grand Finals will be Bo5 series.
  • Map pool will be the currently active BNET 1v1 ladder map pool.
  • Each player afforded 1 map ban for series.
  • First map of play determined by alternate veto, beginning with higher seeded player. Subsequent maps are “Loser’s Pick.”

League of Legends

  • Swiss-style group play for 4-5 rounds, single game series.
  • Top 4 teams from group play continue into single elimination brackets, Bo3 series.
  • All games will be 5v5 Summoner’s Rift, Draft Pick.
  • No champions are banned at time of this announcement.

Halo 4

  • All matches are 10 min 2v2 Slayer, 25 frag limit.
  • Format will be double elimination with 16 or fewer teams, Bo3 series.
  • If >16 teams, Swiss-style group play for 5 rounds, Bo3 series.
  • Top 16 teams continue into single elimination brackets, Bo3 series.
  • Maps and settings use the v5 standards.
  • Map will include Haven, Simplex, Skyline, Onyx and Abandon.
  • The first map of play will be determined by alternate veto. Subsequent maps are Loser’s Pick.

Super Street Fighter 4: AE ver 2012

  • 2/3 rounds 99 sec, double elimination brackets
  • 2/3 matches, 3/5 for Winners, Losers, and Grand Finals.
  • Winner keeps same character, loser may pick a different character
  • Winner may change Ultra but must choose before opponent picks their Ultra.

Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3

  • All games including winners/losers/grand finals will consist of 3 out of 5 games.
  • After a game has concluded, winner must stick with same team and order for the next game.
  • Loser has option of switching team and order.

Super Smash Bros. Melee

General Rules

  • Bring your own controller/arcade stick/computer.
  • Game breaking glitches are banned.
  • No unsportsman-like conduct will be tolerated.
  • Pausing a game will result in forfeit of that round unless the opponent chooses to waive this option.
  • If you leave the room to grab food or use the restroom or whatever, let someone know so you can avoid being DQ’d, try to get your duties done well before it’s time for you to play.
  • Holding up the tournament for ANY nonprofessional reasons will result in a DQ. We are on a tight schedule.
  • All console games will be played on ASUS VH242H monitors and XBOX 360 consoles, courtesy of The70MGame!

We’re unfortunately at the mercy of our venue. We can do the single day event at minimal cost but if we want to do an overnight thing it quickly becomes a small fortune. We’ve only been doing this a short time now, but give it time…the events will get bigger. :)
